Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to appoint a successor to former technical director Michael Emenalo.

Emenalo left Chelsea last November, eventually joining Monaco, and the club are yet to replace him, with director Marina Granovskaia taking on his key responsibilities.

Despite insisting he takes no interest in transfers, it is understood Sarri would like to work closely with whoever Chelsea appoint and may favour a candidate who speaks Italian if he gets any say over the matter.

But it remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea hire a like-for-like replacement for Emenalo or change the job specification, as Granovskaia will continue to take the lead over player transfer and contract negotiations.

Whatever their title, somebody is needed to help oversee and plan all the loans, while providing a link between the Academy, first-team and boardroom. Kenneth Omeruo became the 31st player to leave Chelsea on loan by joining Leganes for the season.

Some of the options for Chelsea to consider are Football Association technical director Dan Ashworth, who is understood to be interested in a return to club football, former players Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack, and Monchi – the director of football at Roma.

Chelsea have also been approached by a number of people interested in the post and have held informal talks with those interested.

More serious talks are now likely to take place over the coming weeks, as it becomes clearer exactly how Chelsea intend to replace Emenalo and what responsibilities his successor will be given.

Reports that Manchester United want to appoint a director of football could also focus Chelsea’s hunt, as the two clubs may be interested in similar targets.

Ashworth and Monchi have both been mentioned as potential targets for United, along with Edwin van der Sar and former Tottenham Hotspur director of football Paul Mitchell, who is currently working for RB Leipzig.

why are you frustrated? Chelsea have the best group of executives working in football and the results bear that fact out.

Gary Cahill hasn't travelled and Galatasaray have genuine interest in signing him. With less than 12 months on his deal we shall see what happens

Sarri macht kurzen Prozess mit dem "Kapitän"

I've also been told Danny Drinkwater hasn't traveled. He also hasn't been in the first team match day squad for the first two league games. He could also have offers on the table and could leave in the next week.

Türkei wird aber sicher kein Abnehmer für einen Kauf sein bei den aktuellen Problemen dort.

Roman Abramovich is exploring a multi-billion-pound sale of Chelsea football club after rejecting an approach from a US private equity firm.

The Russian oligarch’s directors are understood to have hired a specialist investment bank to help with a strategic review after knocking back an offer from Silver Lake Partners, which wanted to buy a minority stake.

The activity follows a £2bn bid earlier this year from the Ineos chemicals tycoon Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Abramovich is said to have turned down Britain’s richest man because he was holding out for a higher bidder.

Chelsea’s directors have brought in Joe Ravitch from the Raine Group, a boutique bank that specialises in sport, technology, media and telecoms. Raine advised Manchester City’s Middle Eastern owners on the sale of a stake to Chinese investors and helped SoftBank in its acquisition of the Cambridge chip maker ARM. The strategic review is being overseen by Marina Granovskaia and Eugene Tenenbaum, Chelsea directors who are also senior advisers to Abramovich.

The appointment came after Silver Lake, a US private equity firm that owns shares in Tesla and Alibaba, made an unsuccessful approach for a minority stake. Any buyer is likely to see Chelsea as an opportunity to win influence within European football, as Qatar has done with Paris Saint-Germain and the rulers of Abu Dhabi have with Manchester City.

Chelsea declined to comment on the process. However, a source close to the club said it was “not for sale”. Silver Lake and Raine declined to comment.

The Daily Telegraph understands the Russian is more likely be have expressed interest in attracting a new minority shareholder to release funds.

Ist auch nur ein Leihgeschäft. Wenn es aber dazu kommt wird aber hundert pro noch sein Vertrag verlängert, der läuft nämlich nur noch bis nächsten Sommer.

they stopped believing in him halfway through title season. 10 asked to leave at the end of it. At the end of a title season!
